For more than two decades, Utah Olympic Park has celebrated the Winter Olympic Games — particularly the last time they came to Utah in 2002.

Now, it’s revving up for the announcement of the 2034 Winter Olympic location. On July 24, it hosts a free event from 4 to 9 p.m. featuring athlete meet-and-greets, food, giveaways, a Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle show and live music by Freedog.

And all summer long, it offers mountain adventures and free museums to soak in the Olympic fever that’s coming to a climax with the summer Games in Paris — and the final vote on Salt Lake City’s 2034 bid.

As a nonprofit, the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation oversees programs for the public and for high-level athletes and maintains the Olympic venues, which include Utah Olympic Park, Utah Olympic Oval and Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. Its mission revolves around cultivating champions and inspiring the public to celebrate the region’s Olympic legacy.

The acronym SPORT sums up its main focus: It provides Sport programs to inspire youth and community members to participate in winter sports; Public programs to educate people; Olympic venues it continues to enhance to be “Olympic ready” by meeting Olympic standards for sport competitions by 2027; Resourceful management to cultivate diversity and environmental sustainability; and Thriving communities by promoting healthy values and partnering with Utah towns and cities and other organizations.
